CD-ROM ToolKit™ v2.5.1 update
Copyright © 1997 FWB Software, LLC.
April 16th, 1997
These files will update CD-ROM ToolKit™ 2.5 to the new version
2.5.1. This update addresses some potential problems. New drives are
also added with this version.
Versions
The included files will update the following CD-ROM ToolKit versions to 2.5.1:
2.5
Preferences and Debugger Problem
A problem was discovered where the CD-ROM ToolKit application could cause
problems with debugging software ("writes to nil"). This is not expected to
be a problem for most users. Theoretically this problem could lead to
the application forgetting user preferences, though this has never been
observed in normal use. This problem is fixed in this version.
SCSI "Conflict"
In some circumstances CD-ROM ToolKit may have mistakenly seen a conflict
between SCSI devices and ATAPI CD-ROMs and would then refuse to load for
the CD. This is fixed in this version.
CDT Remote™ program shuffle.
In version 2.5 the CDT Remote would sometimes shuffle the programmed
playlist. This problem is now fixed.
New Drives
This version adds and improves supports for the CD-ROM Drives noted below.
New and improved support:
• TEAC 516S (16x)
• Plextor 20Plex
• Yamaha CDR-400c (4x Writer, 6x Reader)
• Sony 415
• Funai E295X (ATAPI 16x)
• Panasonic 584 (10x ATAPI)
• Panasonic 585 (ATAPI "20x", CAV, very fast)
• NEC 1600 (Improved audio scan with firmware 3.05)
• Sony Discman PRD-650
Instructions for Use
---------------------
There are three updater files:
CDT 2.5.1 Ap Update Updates the application
CDT 2.5.1 Ext Update Updates the extension
CDT 2.5.1 Remote updater Updates the CDT Remote application
FWB recommends that you update all three components.
The latest "Supported Devices" and "Read Me First" files are also available.
To use these updates:
1. Restart your Macintosh with extensions turned off.
You can do this by chosing "Restart" from the Finders "Special" menu.
Then holding down the "Shift" key until the Macintosh has started up.
2. Double-click the Update Application to launch.
The application opens and starts to search your disks for files it can update.
When it has finished searching it will present a list of available files.
3. Choose the file you want to update.
4. Click the update button.
The updater will now update the filesyou chose.
When it is finished your original file is in the Trash, the updated copy
is where the original was located.
5. Either:
Click Quit to exit the updater.
Or
Go back to step 3 to update another copy.
6. Repeat this process for the other updater files.
7. You now need to restart your Macintosh to take advantage of the new
software.
If the update fails:
Do you have the correct version of the software installed?
This updater will only update the versions listed.
Try a fresh install of the original software, then try the updater again.
The updater carefully checks the file to be updated. If it has been
modified at all the update will fail.
Enjoy.
